Project Overview
The city has identified a need to rehabilitate the existing 16” water main along Old Rockford Road between Peony Lane N and Dunkirk Lane N. The proposed rehabilitation is mainly trenchless and will involve completing work from a series of access pits along the roadway. This process will help minimize construction time and impacts to properties adjacent to the roadway.
The project will require a shutdown of the water main for the duration of the work; however, service will be provided by a secondary source and customers can utilize water as normal with no restrictions or loss of service during the project.
Anticipated Schedule
Construction: June 6 - September 3
(Construction cannot start until schools are out for the summer.)
Project Update-August 22, 2024
Please note, all dates are weather dependent and subject to change.
See the attached map defining the traffic control plans for the final portions of work in Phase 2.
Phase 1
The week of August 12th, the contractor completed asphalt paving and opened westbound traffic from Peony Lane to Holly Lane.
Phase 2
The week of August 19th, the contractor is completing the watermain lining for Phase 2 from Holly Lane to Dunkirk Lane. Final utility work at the Holly Lane intersection began August 22nd. This intersection will be closed for the duration of this work (approximately 8/22 and part of 8/23) for the safety of the contractor. Traffic will be temporarily routed to 45th Ave N and Dunkirk Lane while this intersection is closed. Holly Lane and Dunkirk Lane intersections will both be open over the weekend.
On Tuesday, August 27th at 9 am, the contractor will close the Holly Lane intersection for the first lift of paving. It is estimated that the first lift will be installed and cooled by Wednesday morning. Then, Dunkirk Lane will be closed for the first lift of paving on Wednesday morning. The two intersections will be closed/reopened for another short duration Wednesday and Thursday to install the final pavement lift. Paving is anticipated to be complete by Thursday August 28th. At any given time at least one intersection will be open.
The contractor is diligently working to have the entire length of Old Rockford Road open westbound by the contract deadline of August 30th.
