Project Overview

The City of Plymouth is implementing drainage improvements within Maple Creek Park in collaboration with Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. The Maple Creek Stream Restoration Project will help address downstream flooding concerns, improve the City’s ability to maintain drainage, and improve water quality upstream of Gleason Lake.

This project includes repairing and replacing storm pipes and outlet control structures within Maple Creek Park. This will improve drainage downstream of the park and reducing flooding potential for homeowners and businesses. This project will also repair channel erosion and remove accumulated sediment from areas of the channel. The pond north of the playground will be dredged and an iron-enhanced sand filter will be placed along the east side of the pond to filter the water flowing through this area. This filter will remove pollution and clean the water before it flows downstream to Gleason Lake. Some tree removals will be necessary, and trails in this area will be temporarily closed during construction.
