The City of Plymouth takes enforcement of traffic laws seriously. Enforcing traffic laws and reducing the number of crashes is a priority for officers in our community. Individuals are encouraged to read the specific state law or city ordinance for detailed information on regulations. Call 763-509-5160 or email police@plymouthmn.gov with questions.

Parking Restrictions

The City of Plymouth does not allow on-street parking year round between the hours of 2-5 a.m. During the winter months, parking is also prohibited during a snow emergency – after a 2-inch snowfall – until the street has been plowed curb-to-curb. Violators may be tagged and/or towed.

Special Parking Permits

If you have a special circumstance, such as having your driveway re-paved or seal coated, you can receive special permission to park on the street overnight. Contact the Public Safety Department at 763-509-5160 in advance. Fully explain your special circumstance, and you will receive instructions to ensure you do not receive a citation.

Tickets/Citations

Under normal circumstances, police do not dismiss citations once they have been issued. If you want to dispute a citation that has been issued to you, contact the court and ask to speak with a referee or judge about your situation. Judges and referees have the authority to reduce or dismiss citations. The customer service line for Hennepin County District Court traffic is 612-348-2040.

Traffic Unit

A three-officer unit is dedicated primarily to addressing traffic issues in Plymouth. Additional officers are also assigned during the summer months. They routinely target problem areas for stepped up enforcement of speed limits or other safety concerns. If you would like to recommend an area for target enforcement or have concerns or ideas, email police@plymouthmn.gov.
