The City of Plymouth and Plymouth Housing and Redevelopment Authority actively work to provide an inclusive community and assist in eliminating housing discrimination. A Fair Housing Policy was adopted Nov. 27, 2018. View the policy (PDF).

Fair Housing Act

The Federal Fair Housing Act provides equal access to rental housing and homeownership. The Federal Fair Housing Act and the Minnesota Human Rights Act prohibit housing discrimination based on:
  • Race
  • Color
  • Religion
  • Sex
  • Disability
  • Familial status
  • National origin
  • Creed
  • Sexual or affectional orientation
  • Ancestry (Minneapolis and Saint Paul)
  • Marital status
  • Receipt of public assistance
  • Age (Saint Paul)

Most housing is covered under this legal protection, except for owner-occupied buildings with no more than four units, single-family housing sold or rented without the use of a broker, and housing operated by organizations or private clubs for member use only.
