Background
The historical building that houses the Plymouth History Center, Old Town Hall experienced a multi-year closure following a burst water pipe in the basement during the pandemic. During that time, staff have been working to make repairs, reorganize and catalogue items, reimagine programming and give the interior a makeover.
Built in 1885 as the town’s municipal building, the refreshed Old Town Hall is set to offer new exhibits, an audio recording space for oral history projects, a variety of photos, historical models, a timeline of the city’s history, and a research room to browse old newspapers, yearbooks and documents.
Old Town Hall Hours, Activities
Following the Aug. 3 grand reopening, Old Town Hall is set to be open to the public 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the first Saturday of every month.
Community members are invited to stop by to learn about Plymouth’s history and participate in various activities, such as Plymouth History Discussion Club and Story Time events for elementary-age children.
