The City of Plymouth seeks applications for a student member to serve on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC).
Responsible for overseeing plans and proposals for the city’s parks and trails system, facilities, and recreation programs, the commission’s recommendations are forwarded to the City Council for consideration.
PRAC typically meets six times per year the second Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 3400 Plymouth Blvd. The student commissioner position is open to high school juniors and seniors who reside in Plymouth. The term will coincide with the school year, and the student commissioner’s first meeting is set for Sept. 12.
“This is a great opportunity for students to get involved in local government and gain some valuable experience in an advisory capacity,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Tomlinson. “Plymouth’s parks and trails are for everyone, and we’re excited to welcome fresh perspectives to the decision-making process.”
Students interested in local government, particularly parks and recreation, are encouraged to apply.
Applications are due Friday, July 19. To apply and learn more, visit the Committees and Commissions webpage.
