The Plymouth Police Department offers some crime prevention tips for residents heading into summer:

• Park cars in a locked garage whenever possible
• If cars must be parked in a driveway, ensure that doors are locked and remove all valuables from vehicles
• Keep garage door openers out of sight in a locked car
• When away, homeowners should make homes look occupied by using light timers
• Consider an alarm system and/or surveillance cameras
• Use locks on windows and secure sliding doors
• Use high-quality deadbolt locks on entrances and garage service doors
• Increase the use of exterior lighting around the home
• Report suspicious behavior
