Reminders: Parking, Mailboxes & Shoveling Tips

Parking: Parking is prohibited on city streets after a 2-inch snowfall. Parking may not resume on the street until it has been plowed curb-to-curb. Violators may be tagged and towed. In addition to parking restrictions related to snow plowing, Plymouth prohibits parking on city streets year-round from 2-5 a.m.

Mailboxes: Residents are asked to clear snow in front of mailboxes to ensure postal deliveries. Snow plow drivers are not able to clear snow directly in front of mailboxes, as plows may knock down and damage posts – especially with heavy wet snow.

Fire Hydrants: The Fire Department asks residents to shovel out fire hydrants near their homes. Keeping hydrants clear of snow can substantially reduce the time it takes firefighters to put out a fire.

Shoveling Tips: To minimize plows filling an already-cleared driveway with snow, residents should pile shoveled snow downstream of plowing operations – on the right side of the driveway when facing the street – to avoid having the snow plow push it back onto the driveway. Residents should clear a pocket on the left side of the driveway (when facing the street) for plows to drop snow.
