Night to Unite
- Kickoff Event: The City of Plymouth will host a free, family-friendly Night to Unite kickoff event from 2:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Plymouth Creek Center, 14800 34th Ave. The event will feature police K9s, the SWAT team, a dunk tank for police officers and firefighters, a blood drive, a North Memorial helicopter, a cancer remembrance banner, fire trucks, police cars, bike helmet sales, inflatable bouncers, games, a Hennepin County water rescue boat and free refreshments. - Block Parties: After the kickoff, residents are encouraged to turn on their lights, lock their doors and step outdoors to meet their neighbors.
Public Safety Citizens Academy
The Plymouth Police Department is accepting applications for the Public Safety Citizens Academy, a free 12-week course which meets 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Sept. 11. This 36-hour course is geared toward expanding public knowledge of the Police and Fire departments. Deadline to apply is Aug. 30; all participants must pass a background check. More information.

Entries for the Picture Plymouth Photo Contest must be submitted digitally via the Plymouth Magazine website at plymouthmag.com from Aug. 1-31. Photo categories include people and families, community activities and events, pets, wildlife and nature, and city landmarks. More information.
