Fall Shred Event, Bonus Materials Accepted

The City of Plymouth will hold a free paper shredding event 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3 at the Plymouth Maintenance Facility, 14900 23rd Ave. N. An added bonus, residents can also drop off bikes, batteries and textiles to be recycled. 

Residents must stay in their vehicles at all times.

On-site staff will safely retrieve materials from each vehicle. Paper is shredded on-site at the event and is confidentially handled and recycled.

Accepted Materials: Paper, Bikes, Batteries, Textiles

Only the following items will be accepted at the event:

  • Shredding
    • Accepted – Mixed office paper, junk mail. Paper clips and staples attached to papers are accepted.
    • Not Accepted – No three-ring binders or binder clips. Wax coated paper, metallic wrapping paper, plastic, hard drives, metal, pull tabs, food, film, etc.

  • Bicycles
    • Accepted – Bicycles and bicycle parts in any condition
    • Not Accepted - Plastic toys/cars

  • Batteries – Household only
    • Alkaline batteries
    • Cadmium batteries
    • Lithium-ion batteries
    • Computer batteries
    • Rechargeable batteries

  • Textiles – Can be in poor or unusable condition.
    • Clothing, any cloth material including undergarments
    • Bedding
    • Towels
    • Shoes
    • Accessories
    • Coats, jackets and other outerwear
    • Belts, purses, backpacks
    • Small household items: Irons, ironing boards, crockpots, toasters, pots and pans, silverware, décor and knick-knacks, jewelry. 

Items Not Accepted

The following items will not be accepted at the event:

  • Furniture
  • Microwaves
  • TV's, computer monitors, video game consoles, speakers
  • Carpet, carpet padding, rugs
  • Mattresses
  • Car/vehicle batteries
  • Light bulbs/fluorescent bulbs

Residents must take their containers with them, including cardboard boxes or paper bags. 

The event is for Plymouth residents only; ID or proof of residency is required.
