Plymouth Sings seeks the best vocalists in town to represent the community on stage at the state competition, Minnesota Sings.

Plymouth will hold auditions 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2 at the Hilde Performance Center, 3500 Plymouth Blvd.

Audition space is limited. To reserve an audition spot, call 763-509-5200 – requests are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Judges decide who will advance to the Plymouth Sings Finals.

Public Invited to Plymouth Sings Finals Aug. 9

Final competition for Plymouth Sings is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9 at the Hilde Performance Center. The public is welcome to view the final competition at no cost.

Winners Advance to State Competition 

The winners and runners-up from the finals will represent Plymouth at the Minnesota Sings Statewide Competition Saturday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 8 in Fairmont.

Contest Eligibility

  • The competition features two age groups – 13-20 years old, as well as adults 21 and older. 

  • To be eligible, singers must live, work or attend school in Plymouth.
     
  • Youth Division contestants must be between the ages of 13 and 20 years. (Contestants must not be younger than 13 or older than 20 on Oct. 7, 2023).

  • This is an amateur competition.  If 25% of your 2022 income came from singing, you are considered professional and not eligible to compete.

  • Only individual contestants are eligible. Multiple singers are not accepted and additional instruments cannot be used.

  • Once a contestant has won first place at Minnesota Sings, they are not eligible to compete again. A new first place winner is chosen each year.

  • Minnesota Sings final contestants may be awarded cash prizes, studio recording time or music gear.

Vocalists will be judged based on the criteria below:

  • Vocal Skills
  • Presentation Skills
  • Audience Response to Performance
  • Choice of Material
  • Judges Overall Impression of Performance
