Motorists will experience delays and weekend full closures on Interstate 494 between I-394 and Hennepin County Road 6 in Minnetonka and Plymouth as a project to resurface the roadway begins Fri., July 13.
The resurfacing work will occur during two directional weekend full closures. Northbound I-494 resurfacing will occur first, and the roadway is scheduled to close at 10 p.m. Friday, July 13.
During the full closure, motorists will be detoured to eastbound I-394, northbound Highway 169 and westbound I-94/I-694. The roadway will reopen by 5 a.m. Sunday, July 15.
Southbound I-494 will be closed for resurfacing over a weekend later in July. Updates will be made in advance of the closure.
Possible non-rush hour lane closures may also occur as needed throughout the project for work on the shoulders. All of the work is weather permitting and may be rescheduled in the case of inclement weather.
The project will create a smoother ride for motorists and extend the lifespan of the roadway. The entire project is expected to be completed by early August.
