About the Hilde
The Hilde Performance Center is an open air stage designed by the same architects that designed the Lake Harriet Band Shell in Minneapolis. The 45-foot tall facility has a raised stage and an acoustic-friendly undulating roof. A glass wall in the back of the stage allows the audience to view the wetlands beyond the stage.
The stage serves as home for Music in Plymouth, an event co-sponsored by the Plymouth Civic League. This annual outdoor event brings the acclaimed Minnesota Orchestra to Plymouth. In addition, the Hilde Performance Center is the venue for the summer concerts series, other performing arts and special events.
The Hilde Performance Center was made possible through a $1 million donation by former Mayor Al Hilde, Jr. and his wife, Jayne. Hilde was Plymouth's mayor from 1968-1978.
The Hilde Performance Center is located at 3500 Plymouth Blvd. This is behind the City Hall/Public Safety Building complex and adjacent to Life Time Fitness. Entrances and paths leading to the Hilde Center are located:
- On Plymouth Boulevard between Life Time Fitness and City Hall;
- At the far end (north) of the City Hall parking lot;
- Behind City Hall (off 34th Ave. N.); and
- At the south end of the Life Time Fitness parking lot.
Please note, due to mature trees surrounding the Hilde Center and natural amphitheater area, the band shell can be difficult to see from the street during summer months.
If you're going to an event at the Hilde, some on-street parking is available in the City Center area. You may also park in the City Hall parking lot.
